<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/116166/din-harness.jpg"></center><p>I figured this should go in a new thread.
Stock speaker wire colors for MY1987, other years may differ. Test to see which pair is which for the front speakers with a AA battery.
Front Left +: green/black
Front Left -: green
Front Right +: green/black
Front Right -: green
Rear Left +: red/gray
Rear Left -: black
Rear Right +: black/white
Rear Right -: blue/green
Main Harness wire colors
Ground (-): brown
12v constant (+): red/black
dash illumination: gray/blue
antenna trigger: white
DIN harness part numbers to reconnect stock stereo
Main harness: 171 035 447 B
Front speakers (black plug): 191 035 455 C*
Rear speakers (white plug): 191 035 455 B*
*These part numbers don't appear to by valid anymore, so you will have to find them used or buy 4 of P/N: 175 035 447 which is a standard DIN 41529 2 pin speaker plug. The blade is the (-) connection and the round pole is (+). You can likely source the plugs elsewhere since they are all industry standard.

Awesome - Thank You
That will save me some time installing the head unit having something to go off of. Appreciate the info...sometimes stereo install can just be a b*(&* if something was stolen and hacked up and you don't know how it was beforehand.

This is what the back looks like:

and what seems to be OEM adapters:

here you can see the power hook up:

Thats the infamous Canadian OEM radio with ISO connectors
The stock harness is DIN like every other Type 85. Those "OEM" adapters convert it to an ISO 10487 standard stereo connector thats found in all 1987-2001 VW/Audi vehicles (Blaupunkt also uses it on their aftermarket radios). Any part numbers on those adapters that you can find?
