Sure thing! I'm in the process of making a step by step tutorial with pictures, so hopefully other can benefit from this repair. I don't know if the fix will hold long term, but mine has been going strong for over 6 months, including the cold winter months.

Great thread. thanks guys.
Im having difficulty removing the regulator unit from the door. Everything is there and working, except sheared motor mount. But I don;t quite understand the above info on getting the thing out.
Thanks

1. Remove the glass. Two nuts on the black clamp on the bottom of glass will free it and allow you to finagle the glass out.

2. Remove the 3 nuts that attach the motor mounts to the door.

3. Remove the nuts and bolts that attach the regulator track to the door. If I recall there are three (2 up high and and one at the very bottom.

Thanks for the reply SLC4kq. You mean remove the glass from the regulator, leaving it in the door somehow, or removing it entirely from the door?

Remove it entirely. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to remove the black plastic trim piece on top.

The Bentley’s manual has the precise order in which to do things. if you haven’t got one yet, it’s worth every penny.

Thanks, Got the bible.
Was able to remove motor/regulator easily w/o removing the window. Just held it up with a wood block inside the door at the lock end. Regulator out front hole.
Fortunately just mounts bad, all else in good condition.
Making daily progress now!

Back to regulator rebuilding. Found spool to be without grooves. cable had eroded grooves away. Any parts or complete units available anywhere?
thanks

I found these green spools were a perfect replacement. The cables came in handy too. Had to reuse my existing cable housing.
