Default tail light change?

i want to instal the red lensed tail lights from custom auto craft. now in the install i would be leaving out the part of the tail light assembly that sits in the middle of the trunk lid directly below the lock. i have 2 questions:

1. if this portion is left out (inside sections of light and center black plastic for license plate)where would i mount the license plate?

2. how does one go about removing the tail lights? both the parts on the fenders and the parts on the trunk lid. particularly the center section that spans the lid.

Default To remove the center...There are 4 nuts that hold the center section on from the inside...

there are holes marking their position. Behind the liscence plate should be two screws as well(usually rusty). I've found that a putty knife works best at cutting through sealant that bonds the center section to the trunk. There's usually sealant around either corner, not all the way across the bottom. Once you've cut through most of the sealant it should seperate from the trunk.

Default For a tag bracket...

Try one for the front a Volvo V70. They're about $20 at the dealer, IIRC, and should mount right up to the existing holes in your decklid.
