What do you guys think of this

i have a broken tail light on my 4k quattro

i noticed that most of the bulky light assembly is reflectors i like to think of myself as kinda crafty with electronics so i think i could wire other lights into the place where the reflectors are

this could be a stupid kid thing but i would give me some decent backup lights and some bigass turn signals

I was thinking the same thing at one time, never really got motivated to look into it further. Im sure it can be done with a little fab and creativity. i already have backuplight on mine but i was just thinking of adding a light in each center section as a marker light for the orange/ brake light where its red. i was looking at a whole light section at a VW swapmeet for 15 bucks, should have picked it up but didnt need it at the time so i passed it up :s so if you screw up they can be found... or better yet, buy a used one for a salvage yard and do the mod on that!

say, one in each headlight, and one in each brake light housing... not really bright ones, but ones just bright enough to light up the housing. Have them set up to be on when the car is off. LEDs take up almost zero energy so it wouldnt be a problem in the morning (hopefully) and have a switch on the line so you could turn them off for long periods of time...

I think it would be a great idea when you're parking in the street etc... more visibility to those blind and drunken drivers at night.

could also bring unwanted attention to your car though...

those led's are a pretty slick idea i might have to do some tinkering i will get some pics up whenever i get the project done
