Default Is there such a thing as....

a fuel distributor rebuild kit?
The rubber diaphragm inside the
fuel distributor in my '86
4000S went bad.
Instead of buying another one,
is there a rebuild kit available?

Default Hmmm...which rubber diaphram?

One thing you dont wanna do is start taking the fuel distributor apart, the tolerances set from the factory are outrageous. You can take the metering head off and seperate/clean a few of the components, but its largely "not rebuildable" IMHO.
Or maybe Im on the wrong side of the fence here and have just had too many cookies to eat

There's only 1 diaphragm inside the
fuel distributor. It is sandwiched
between the top and bottom halves
along with 8 small springs, 4 small
O-rings, and 4 small set screws.
Maybe a rebuild kit doesn't exist,
maybe one does. Someone would know.

What are your symptoms and how do you know the diaphragm is the culprit?

Default I had a problem where I thoguht it was the fuel distributor plunger....

and it turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. This is after I replaced the fuel distributor. My symptom was gas pouing out from the airbox.

Car isn't getting any gas to the injectors.
Also, there was a broken plastic disc inside.
That's why I asked about a rebuild kit.

Default are you getting fuel to the distributor?

and if you are, what is the pressure? could be the pump failing. that's what happened to me once; i had fuel at the distributor, but it wasn't getting to the injectors. i figured it was the distributor and replaced it and the accumulator. then i tested the system pressure and realized the pump was weak.

Default no.

they are manufactured to such close tolerances that the internals of a given fuel distributor will work only in that fuel distributor.
