I have an '83 Audi Coupe GT. A previous owner installed a motor from an '85 into it. He didn't connect the thermo fan switch and just wired 12v to the radiator fan. I tried to fix it and didn't realize the thermo fan switch was not connected thus it overheats.
Now I see two wires to the right of the radiator near the fender/wheel well inside the engine bay. The wire colors are red/green and blue/red(brown)? that's been cut off.
There are no wires I can see on the bottom side of the car. Now the question is. Are the wires I'm looking at for the thermo-fan switch? I consulted the Bentley and it says red/green is one of them, but doesn't say anything about the other blue/red(brown?) wire.
If these are the right wires, can I just connect them together to have the fan turn on at all times?
I need to get the car running so I can take it out to a meet on Sunday

I know it's a little late, but yep, those are the wires, and yes you can connect them together to have the fan run whenever the key is on. That's what I've had to do for the moment myself.
