Default yeah, but

I like Craftsman too, for what it is (there's nicer stuff, but it's also more expensive).

However, I believe I've been charged before, some small amount, for exchanging a broken ratchet under their warranty.

This was a while back. It was only like $1, and they used the excuse that they needed to ring up the transaction somehow.

Has anyone exchanged a Craftsman tool lately? Is this the current practice?

I could find no reference to this on the Craftsman.com website. I have the memory tho'.

I just broke an adapter (3/8 to 1/2 with 208ft/lbs!?) . Sears exchanged it, with no questions.

Craftmans is also good, and since I do work at a repair shop, my boss told me that unless you do work in one go with one of the brands that you can get at Sears or Home Depot/Lowes. They are good quality at about 1/4 of the price. Good Luck

Default Ripped off

You got ripped man. Craftsman has ALWAYS had a no questions asked policy, no charge for their tools. That salesman made a buck off ya.
