Since my auto went in the 87.5, any reason's not to go 5 spd now?
I have to waste some hrs to put in the auto, so I may as well divert those hrs to doing a 5 spd swap.
I have "extra" CGT's that I could make into donors, even though they are in good condition.
I'd be going w/ a cable type clutch rather than hydraulic style.
Any more info that you can give to persuade or disuade me from doing it?

what year is the possible conversion coupe?
other things to factor in:
how is your welding skills? you're looking at least 60 hours of labor involved, far more the R & R on an autobox.
i would stay with hydro system if your car is 85-87. there are provisions for hydro on those years.

Donor would be my blue '84 CGT

It's cable, and I figure it'd be less complicated.
As for welding, I'll be having someone that's helping doing the welding. He thinks he can knock it out in less than 60 hrs, what were the biggest hurdles that delayed the project? Was it mostly just swaping the different parts? Will having the donor car right there sped up the process or not really?
What were some of the parts that you had to buy? Anything special or pricey?

the converted is a 84?
the worse part is having to cut out the center tunnel from the firewall to where the carpet hold down bolts are. you have to do this on two cars, two cuts, one weld in.

Damn, then I'd have to find a different parts car. The '84 has the 3Z tranny w/ 4.90 gears
that would launch the car very quick w/ the 130 hp NG engine.
So why wouldn't I be able to use the '84 cable setup though?
