The typical valve clatter?

Is this something that just doesn't go away or do the vavles and/or seals need changing to quiet them down? I have tried the usual thicker oil etc. but they're still clicking away.
Thanks for the info

They don't make noise for the most part, until the oil gets really warm (hill climb runs or at the track) or close to oil change time (3000 miles). This is with 20-50 dino oil.
With synth they are noisy within 1500 miles!
10-40 dino oil was about the same as the synth.

Drain out a quart of oil and add a quart of Marvelous Mystery Oil. I do this about 200-400 miles before every oil change. My lifters ticked like crazy when I got the car. After a couple MMO treatments, they remain quiet until around 3,000-3,500 miles. Basically they get noisy just in time for the next treatment and oil change. Oh, make sure you are using nice thick oil (20W50) and a good oil filter (Mann, Bosch or Mahle)...never anything orange (Fram)...
