I bought one of those Sachs clutches on ebay for 70 bucks not long ago, and its just sitting in my room, awaiting install. Ive pondered trying to tackle the job myself, along with some other friends, but do not think its feasible at this point. How much do you think Im looking at for a shop to do this? Id have the rear crank seal done at the same time too. Any BTDT on somebody having a clutch place do JUST labor? Of course places vary in cost, and I'll call when I find time. Ive helped with other AWD transmission drops before, but am iffy on doing it to my poor 4kq. I fully feel I can do it though.
Any advice on what shops would charge, I was thinking 800 with me supplying the parts?
Im pretty sure the original clutch is in my 4kq now, I wont be working next semester, and am trying frantically to get all the major maintinence caught up, thats why the clutch WILL be replaced.

...including the clutch. I Know he was going to charge me $700 to replace the 016 before i decided to sell it to Rocketaudi. HTH

Check that, It was $500 plus $138 for the clutch, that i supplied.

Had the flywheel machined, and they had to custom make a new center bearing support.

IIRC, I was quoted 5 hours labor to install the kit and $50-75 to lighten & machine flywheel

which is just about as much work as just getting the clutch done... It was over a grand including the price of the gearbox and clutch...
