I doubt its the detent spring, that was replaced, when the clutch was replaced, the mechanic said those were pretty bad. I dont think there would be anything wrong with the linkage, I had no problem with shifting before the breakdown, shifting was smooth, and easy to engage. The only time this has ever happened to me, was about 3 years ago, when I was learning how to drive stick, but after alittle convincing the stick popped back into netural. Oh well time to put the Audi into storage, and bring another car out. Thanks for the help.
