Default AN upgrades to prevent fires?

I remeber reading that the circuit for the radiator fan is prone to heat/melting/fires. Were there any recommendatinos to relay certain electrics or add fuses to any circuits in the coupes or 4000 relatives?

I wanna keep my coupe(s) from going up in flames.

Default well,

Well my radiator fan relay heated up so much that the terminal welded itself into the socket and the case got all melted. After prying it out, I replaced all the relays and coated the connections with some dielectric.

Default Was this fan relay under hood or under dash?

Yea I think that's why folks might run a second relay right near the fan and use the relay the melted on you to just switch on that remote relay. Then if the fan has a problem you don't fry the audi wiring harness or fuse box.
I also think I read some guys stick a fuse in this circuit to the fan motor. Maybe it's not fused.

This is important. I've seen serveral audi's on ebay going cheap because of fire or melted harness problems.

Default Install a fusable link...

Alot of us over in the 5000 forum have to do this because our rad fans draw extremely high current...

If the fan bearings sieze up, the wiring harness will melt...

Default :25 amp fusable link?

I tracked down the fan relay and it says 25A on it - so I'm guessing I want that rating on my fuasable link.
I might have been luck. I noticed my fan stopped running when I had the car off the road - so I had it rebuilt.

Still I'll put this link in.
