Vacuum pump. part #054 145 100 , What does it actually do?
I noticed that there "was" a hose connected to the top of it, where was the hose suppose to go? I bought the car like this..so Im clueless on what it actually does, cause it seems to do nothing.

It goes bad and makes noise.
Take it out and block it off. It was originally intended to provide extra vacuum for the brake system(I thought it was for the quattro system at first, which makes more sense), but you don't really need it.
