Default Vacuum pump seal

It was not to hard to change. A couple of bolts, remove the pump, then crank the engine over till the vacuum pump push rod is retracted into the block, if the push rod slides out just put some grease on it and stick it in.

Thoroughly clean the block and pump and replace the seal. There are two different seals. One seal is thick, the other is thin.

You only need one. The thin one is what it calls for and the thick one is recommended as needed by the dealer. If something is wrong with the block or the pump, or it has a problem leak, you would use the thick one. You won't know which one until, you take it off and inspect the block and the pump. I bought both because I did not want the car to be disabled for any length of time, while waiting for another special order part from the dealer. It has been my daily driver for 10 years.....

The Thick seal is $24.00 and the thin one was about $6.00. I used the thin seal along with a very small amount of gray RTV. I still have the thick seal in my "inventory" of Audi parts.
