Well, the project car is moving along fine....but is there a cheaper way to get parts?

Now the car is in need of new sway Bar links, the 4q sway bar is ready to go on but the old links will for sure break or take other damage.
Just by starting to take them off, they cracked already (too old and too rusty).
Discountgermanparts is calling $28.53 for ONE link and I couldn't find anything else for less than that.
Is there another (secret) source for parts, not necessary used parts? Or maybe a compatible "off the shelf" part from Pep Boys (Pls don't laugh ;-) or so?
TIA!!!

you can use the aftermarket polyurethane link kits sold at Pep Boys or Autozone...I forget the brand...but with a fair amount of shaving/shaping of the poly bushings and a bit of effort squeezing and manipulating everything to fit together upon installation, those kits work quite well.

Otherwise, I've found that Audi is Audi...especially with the Coupe GTs, relatively low production numbers and lack of a strong following (as opposed to, VW GTi, etc) seems to have left the parts market fairly dry. There are a number of new/used audi parts retailers advertised on this site...for low prices www.shokan.com seems to be a good bet. Never bought through them, but it seems like they've got a good selection of both new and used parts, many of which I thought were not readily available any more.
Best of luck!

All in all, we are still in relative good shape for parts, based on what I can see on the www.
So I'll have to get over it and spend the amount of $$ needed on the parts, not really good but fair enough for now.
For this fix I'll get new parts, no reason to risk anything on used parts.
Actually, I like the idea of modifying Pep boys or Autozone parts because they are cheaper and easy replaceable because of availability.
Always a good challenge and I think I saw the Sway Bar links sitting on the shelf at PepBoys.
Again, Thanks for the advise !!!

You read my mind: "modifying Pep boys or Autozone parts because they are cheaper and easy replaceable because of availability"
I look at using audi 80/90 parts in a similar light...and often, using those parts is an 'upgrade' at the same time.
There's always the option of fabrication...but then again, if it comes down to that, I'd just say it's time to get a newer car. lol!
I'm sure an A4 will be the next project once my coupe becomes too much trouble to keep clean and tip-top...I've noticed that the A4 tuning craze has started to die down...a couple years and it'll be time to embrace the 'new' old school.
