I have a newfound opportunity to get the front calipers and rotors and such from a '97 porsche 911.. Wondering if these can be retrofitted to my 4kq without much custom fabrication..?
modding is do-able.
Ive seen a few pics of this having been done, but not sure what year/model range works.
Figured id need the 5-lug conv..

What wheels are you running? Obviously Id think you would need 16's to clear the calipers.
I dunno otherwise though what would need to be done to make this happen.

I'm doing this as well, but I'm fitting Boxster Calipers onto my 4000 (they're sitting in my attic waiting for me
)
If you're planning on doing a 5 lug conversion, pick up a set of the 2 piece B3 uprights. This will allow you to do a few things.
1) It will let you get the updated uprights that are 2 piece instead of the one piece that the 4000s are. Makes it easier to swap struts as well as extra camber adjustments on the hub
2) this allows you to use B5 brake parts. You read that right, the B5 brakes will fit the B3 uprights (found that out from Derek on Motorgeek), which means... you can get the brackets for the B5 brakes and use them to adapt to the B3s. Granted, there will probably be issues with offsets of the hub and such, but nothing one can't fix w/ a spacer, washer, etc etc.
This is my game plan. Also gonna toss on a set of coilover sleeves as well, boxster fronts, A8 rotors, 5 lug hubs, 200 20vt rear brakes, and then toss the old 16" wheels from the A4 onto the beast and rider her out
In the process of parts gathering as we speak, so it's just a matter of how time/$$ permits.

..is that I could no longer use my stock wheels for winter, and would render those wheels pretty much useless to me, which sucks cause I like them a lot. The idea of switching strut assemblies w/ brakes twice a year crossed my mind, but I dont imagine that to be a simple process.
Ill have to do a search for my 4-lug brake options perhaps...

also, I have a bracket that is suppose to work with a boxster caliper and then work on a 4k upright with a little work (I'm assuming he meant grinding a bit for clearancing/offset of caliper).
I got it for like $25. I won't be needing it anymore, so if you'd like it I can double check to make sure it works with the caliper and it's yours for what I paid + shipping. Post or shoot me an email.
The guy I bought it from told me to modify it as necessary to make fit, then have it duplicated at a machine shop. Seemed easy enough, but now that I'm going the B3 route, it's not necessary since I think Joe @ axismotorsport has brackets that he's gonna hook me up with for a price
