Default What size/brand snow tire do you recommend for the stock 4x108 Ronals

It is for a 86 4000Q and studded tires seems a bit overkill (Ohio allows them only from NOV 1 - APR 15). I will be only using these during the winter.

Default I use el-cheapo Sears ice and snow stock size; 175-70-14

Those got me from from Frederick, MD to New Haven in a snow/ice storm last January with no problems. The snow was bad enough to close I-81 north of Harrisburg!

Default I use Kumho HP4 for my winter tires...

while my wife has the real deal snow tires. The Kumhos are nearly as good in the snow with decent dry pavement control. I don't know what you're after but this is my preference.

Default 195/60, 185/65 and 175/70 will all work

I never used studded tires, even for the deep snows around Lake Tahoe - they only help on ice and are really bad on dry roads. The 175/70s will work best in snow (they cut through better) 195s best in dry. For killer snows try Gislaveds (a bit pricey) - or go Dunlops Graspics from Tirerack for about $50/. You can even use 185/70s (speedo error is a couple of mph at 60) as they are a popular size and cheap.

Default If you have a JustTires in your area...

They carry a tire called a Republic Ensign. I got them in 185/65-14, and they look like they'll do real well in the snow(I'm going to find out this winter). Dirt cheap(~$40/ea), and they are all season, so they're not hateful for dry pavement and/or the highway.

BTW, in case anyone is interested, I have extra sets of the 14" Ronals for sale.

Default Toyo Observe

Love em. I have been using them for 2 winters and should get at least another 2 out of them.
One thing i did find. I cant do a 180 in the snow with the tires, but i can on dry pavement. :|
I run Kumho for summer tires. I'm going to try the Kumho winters next time I buy.
