Default Whats the best turbo for a mc1 motor...

I know theres the k26 stock and then a smaller turbo the k24 has better pick-up than the k26 (which has more lag) but is there any other turbo that would be better than these two, if you possibly know from experience. I'm looking for a turbo thats easy to find and something that I dont have to spend ALOTTTTT on. Thanks

Default so you're saying you'll have to do some custom work to get another turbo on...

and if you can't do some of the custom work yourself than you'll be spending alot of money.

Default Have I got this right. Audis use a KKK turbo...

The bolt/mounting pattern is unique. Garrets and other common units don't bolt up. Is it possible to use an adapter/spacer? I have never seen this mentioned. Seems to me that I have seen "hybrid" turbos for Audis. These are usually Garret T3/T4 units.

Default These...

Not cheap but cheaper than RS2, GT, etc...

I'm itching to get my hands on the K24/TO4E or RS2 rep.

If you can't afford these then get a used K24...

I haven't seen adapter plates for but I've seen various flanges you can weld on...

Yeah I think I'll stay with a stock k26 or k24...but maybe I could get lucky and find a turbo in a junkyard...but thats a dream...lucky to find a good turbo like on the website in a junkyard. What a steal that would be!!!

Default Correct, you would have to cut & weld

To run any turb other than the KKK k26 or K26 you would need to cut off the flange and weld on the right one...or have custom headers made...
