I've seen this before but just wasn't sure if it was because of a certain angle u look at it.
Did some Euro-specs have this? or is it a mod of an older quattro?

Default They tilt forward because this is an "older" coupe.

Starting in '85, Audi gave the 4k/CGT a tilted back grille and headlight assembly. Between the quad headlights of '83 and the tilt-backs of '85, there are the "leaning forward" style of 1984. The lean forward slightly. Notice also that the rings on the grille are much smaller than the ones on your grille.

Default actually, they do tip forward...

those lights on the blue one don't need to, as those are for the newer front end. but the old ones had sealed beam headlights, and they had to point down toward the road. although, that picture makes them look like they're pointing down alot more than they actually do.

Default Sorry, the coupe pictured has the old front end but....

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/41804/20001412.jpg"></center><p>
It has the single lens H4/H1 from a ur quattro. It also has a euro bumper.
The light itself doesn't move but the 2 parabola move inside to aim the lights.
The strip or visor on the front of the hood (not stock) makes hard to tell the front end layout, I've included a picture of the same front end without the strip.
Trust me, I've got the same layout without the euro bumper (I'd love to get one if anybody has any info!)
Finaly the old quad sealed beam setup I had on my coupe was also vertical, yes you could move the lights to change the aim but when aimed properly, the were vertical!

Default The H4's on my old 84 4k were "upright".

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/21806/home5.jpg"></center><p>It was one of the first things I noticed about the car when I bought it. Quite amazing if you ask me, those lights mated with the Bosch fogs were amazing. :\

Default Unfortunately, its sold.

Bought the car from the local VW dealership. But before purchasing I wanted to talk to the previous owner (who was the 1st owner). The mileage on the odo read some 40,000 miles, and I wanted confirmation before I did anything. Sure enough, odometer was replaced at a certain mileage, there was even a sticker on the doorjam stating this.
Bought it in March 2002 and sold it in July of 2002. One of the best, if not the best, 4000's Ive seen, sat in, or driven. Immacculate inside and out, had a few body blemishes, but nothing major. Didnt leak one thing from the day I got it to the day I sold it. Car was decked out with all original equipment, even radio, and everything worked, minus the cruise. The Audi tech in town remembered working on it before it had the H4's, and he was very impressed with its condition. It was sold basically because it was an automatic, and I already had one of those. I didnt have any previous records or anything, whereas my 85 4k did, and the PO was my aunt.
Thats why I sold the 84 instead of the 85.
Oh well, I kick myself in the butt to this day for not keeping the headlights.
And, Ive never seen the car since its been sold!!
