Why would the 4000 suddenly start idling at full throttle?
I'm driving in the city and noticed that when I stopped for a red light my car was idling with so much throttle my brakes could barely hold it stopped. I could drive full city speed without my foot on the gas, and in Park the car would rev so high I was afraid it was going to blow up!
I visually checked all the vacuum lines I could find, checked that the throttle linkages weren't stuck, didn't find anything obvious.
Any ideas?

look at the throttle body make sure it actually closes pull it closed with your finders then open it back up and see if it goes back to closed and pull on it again to see if it closed all the way.
my car did this when the 2nd butterfly was open a tiny bit so i have a feeling that's your problem it might not look like it but if you can park the car when its idling that high and pull the throttle closed and it stops then you have found your problem.
just something to try
good luck

Must be sticking Throttle plate/ throttle cable.
The idle screw and/or isv cannot let enough air through to need full brake power (unless brakes are in terrible condition)
Lets not restart the W5 sudden acceleration thing here, its not physically possible.
