I'm poor so no eurolight replys please :P
So on our crappy sealed beam lights we have a lowbeam/highbeam/(super)highbeam if you pull back the stalk while the highs are on right?
Well I never use the highbeams and was wondering what it would take to wire up the lowbeam lights for the higher watage as the default lowbeam setting?
Anyone done this? would I have to fool around with the switch/dash wiring or should I just be able to do it at the headlight connector?
Thanks!

You would need to jsut reverse the + for the low and high beams. But you'd now be driving with the high beams on all the time and would blind the crap out of others. Since you've already said you can't afford Euro lights, you should convert your headlights to 9007 bulbs and RELAY them. The relays along with 9007 bulbs should help, but there's nothing that's goignm tomake DOT lights anywhere close to H4s. And PLEASE don't try to run high wattage bulbs in DOT housings, it will scatter the light terribly causing lots of glare to oncoming drivers...

The low beams are rated at Max. 65/43, the 43 being the regular lowbeam setting. The 4651 highbeam headlights are what turns on with the highbeam selector, but if you pull back on the stalk while the highs are on it brightens up the lowbeam lights to the 65 watt setting.
What I want to do is just wire the lowbeam lights to the 65watt draw as the default lowbeam setting, this should brighten them up without the blinding light of having the 4651s turned on.
Do you think this would cause too much glare?
Would this need relays installed since it would be still somewhat factory wattage?
Thanks for the input

The bulb determines what the wattage is. If you try to wire to the other filament that comes on with the high beams, you will be blinding oncoming traffic. You want to skip this mess and get you some euros. Sorry for the news. I do have a set that fits your car for sale if you want to make an offer.

All priced very nicely. They would still look like the standard quad setup but have H4 beams in them them rather than sealed junk. Check out the link.<ul><li><a href="http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=363&catalogId=10101&a mp;langId=-1&storeId=10101">H-4 QUARTZ-HALOGEN HEADLIGHT</a></li></ul>
