Default I don't usually have winter problems under the hood...

more like I can't get IN my 4kq because the damn door handles are frozen solid! That's why I always carry a lighter and lock-deicer all winter long. I've been known to heat the key till it's super hot and stick that in the lock to thaw it. Or if it's unlocked, to hold the lighter under the latch so it doesn't stick in!

Warm up the metal parts of the hand with your hands first (so you don't freeze your lips to it :P), then put your mouth to the keyhole and blow.
works like a charm

Interesting...I'll have to try that. (When no one's around...I'm sure I'd get some strange looks!)
