MIVE (Michigan Volkswagen Enthusiasts) put on the 1st annual Motorstadt event near Detroit today.
Perfect day for a great event, no clouds, good temps, and a whole lotta fun. I went just to hang out with fellow Audi owners, and meet new ones. Its a show/swapmeet/vendor thing all rolled into one event. There were different classes of cars (Passats in one group, MKII's in another, etc), and everybody got a ballot and could vote on what car they wanted to win.
Somehow I got 3rd place in the "Early Audi" category, while Steve Ankney got 2nd, and Greg Jacobs got 1st. I know both guys very well, so it was good that we all placed.
Some notable cars were there. A brand new S4 Cabriolet was there, never seen one in person, it was very nice, I liked it. An 83 Urq showed up pretty late, but the owner was very nice and said the Urq was $1200 bucks from a Honda dealer in Indiana! What a steal that was, the dealership had no idea what they had, go figure. There was also a red 84 4kq parked way out, but Steve and I checked it out anyways. Lastly, an 83 or 84 CGT showed up, kinda rough, but it was good to see one there.
Before judging began, Steve had to pick up a part from a guys house which wasnt far away. Turns out, after we pick up the part and get in the car Steve says "you know whos house this is, right?" and I have no idea, so he says "its porterdog, from the forum!". So, I thought it would be funny and sneaky to snap a picture in front of his house, so thats what that one is about.
It was a great day, I got a nice tshirt and a really really nice glass trophy will cool writing on it, my first award, woot!
