Default The "Evo Killer" 200q20v gets a new intercooler and claims several victims...what a great Sunday!

First the intercooler...

A 2Bennett bolt-on replacement for the factory single pass. This thing is HUGE. The stock intercooler measures 105 sq inches of face area, the new one measures a full 282 sq inches. And DAMN does it work, as I got to prove tonight. After each of the runs below I checked the intercooler with my hand and each time it was not even warm.

And the victims....

A local back road doubles as my test track and its also the Sunday meeting place for the local street racers, mostly rice of course. So there I was, G-Tech on the windshield, intending to do nothing more than make a few runs for testing. That was the intention anyway. I ended up driving into a pack of tweeked up rice. Lots a sweet cars and most of them real sleepers and not a single Boeing wing or billboard decal in sight.

Run 1: The Evo Killer with ECU set in 2.5 bar against a squeezing Prelude. I agree to let the "Lude" start the race by giving him the launch. He launches first but the run is effectively over by the time I go for 2nd. Dropping the clutch at 5500 results in the Evo Killer breaking traction for a micro second and then bogging out. Doesnt matter, even with the bog the EKq makes up for the Lude's head start and a short shift to 2nd leaves him in the dust. He gives up and I dont bother making it a full pass.

Run 2: A little better. The EKq still in 2.5 Bar against a turbo Vtech Civic Hatch. He agrees to run heads up. Of course the Ekq takes him on the launch, no bog this time from a 6k launch rpm, but at least he was close till 3rd when the EKq pulls away hard. He gives up and again I don't bother with a full pass but still post a 14.70 on the G-Tech.

Run 3: Now we're talkin! EKq in 3 Bar mode, all 28psi, for this one cause the car next to me is a CRX packin a bottle fed LS/B16 hybrid 2 liter and street slicks up front. Its heads up and away we go.....

The hat drops and the EKq is GONE but incredibly the CRX not only catches up but gets a few feet of nose in front. We swap noses several times during shifts until 4th when the EKq begins inching away and takes the CRX by half a car length...and FINALLY a full pass to readout on the G-Tech....and no I'm not tellin what it said except to say it was quicker than 13.00 and faster than 100mph. >=0)

That was the end of the runs for the EKq, nobody else wanted to run. <sigh>

Default My plans for the 200q20v ....

Full RS2 Conversion + Pastore Software = 370hp

I'll probably end up changing out the piston rods w/ Pauter Rods. I've already got the RS2 exhaust manifold and turbo cited from a local guy. he wants $2k for both iirc though that sounds like a steal.

Just got in a quote from 2bennett for full RS2 spec costs $5,503.00. Their list:

2B software - $1195
k26/27 2B special kkk turbo - $1850
RS2 exhaust manifold - $1125
RS2 fuel injectors(5) - $645
RS2 air mass sensor - $459
2B sport turbo hose and airmass sensor to turbo - $229
total $5503

My approx. costs:
Pastore Software - 2.5 to 4.0 bar range - $265
RS2 turbo+manifold from local- $2000
RS2 injectors from 2B(i havne't looked around yet) - $645
RS2 air mass sensor(alex@europrice) - $445

then i'll probably add a 7A exhaust cam if i can't find a cheaper RS2 cam.
my total $3355
i save - $2148 by sourcing my own parts and getting a deal on the turbo/manifold
