Ok guys, it was fun pulling the head with the EM and wastegate on, but now I've got to put it back together, trying to decide the best way.
The car currently has the block and the downpipe.
During disassembly the intake manifold was removed first, then the turbo. The wastegate was unbolted at the downpipe, the entire wastegate came off (including the bellowed pipe) along with the exhaust manifold which was still bolted to the head.
Now, I'm trying to decide what the easiest way of installing this will be, also factoring in I will be using headstuds.
Installing the head/em/wastegate/turbo together will not work because I wouldn't be able to slip the turbo studs into the downpipe due to the head studs. Installing the head/em/wastegate seems like it'd be difficult to bolt the turbo back onto the exhaust manifold. Installing the head/EM without the wastegate means I wouldn't be able to get the wastegate in afterwards due to firewall clearance with the long EM WG studs.
Is my only choice to install the head/EM/wastegate, then turbo?
Thanks!!

If I were doing It, I'd Bolt the EM and turbo onto the head. Install the head, and and then bolt the turbo to the downpipe. The headstuds shouldn't interefere with this.

The head has to drop straight down, so the only way would be to move the downpipe till it fits, but then how do you take care of the wastegate?

I'm confused, If you unbolt the DP from the turbo housing, and then unbolt the wastegate where the flex pipe meets the actual downpipe, then you'll be able to drop the head straight down, the same way you'd take it off. The downpipe shouldnt get in the way of anything?

Maybe I'm not seeing it right.
To insert the turbo into the downpipe, we need to install the turbo longitudally.
To install the head to the block, it has to be done straight downwards.
If the turbo is bolted to the EM which is mounted to the head, how do I drop the head straight down and slip the turbo into the DP longitudally?

'Aw Damnit. I just drew up this fancy picture and now I figured out what you're talking aobut. Because I'm using one of 034's turbos, There are no turbo studs coming out of the exhaust side, but threaded holes.
...I didnt tihnk of it because its still a K26. Sorry for the misunderstanding. In your case I'd go with unbolting the pipe at the cat and then reconnecting it.

Thanks guys, I think I got that part under control.
Now I'm assembling my NF head with the new welded EM and KH IM. Can't find the tightening sequence anywhere in the bently, nor can I find the torque specs. Can anyone shed some light on this?
