Default 1986 5000

I think I'm going to sell my old friend. I purchased a new SUV. I thought I would keep it to use for parts for my 89 turbo but I don't really have the room. I need some help with what would be a price I could ask for the car. I have owned the car since 1989. I purchased it with 40000 miles on it. I don't know what is on it now because the odometer broke at 126499 but the speedo works. I would guess around 160000. Recent work done on the car is ....
new front axle left and right
new front wheel bearing left and right
new catalyic converter
new radiator & thermostat
new starter
window regulators front left and right
new blower motor
new heater core

The car has no rust on body or undercarriage
The interior has one small tear on drivers seat bolster.

Thanks for any input

Default Sold my '86 5KS last February.............

FWD only, with sun roof, body, and interior in good shape. No dents, no rust, clear coat paint just starting to craze. It ran good, but did leak oil, trany fluid, and pentosin. I put it in my side yard where there is heavy traffic flow. Put a sign on it for $2,000, was hoping to get maybe $1,200 to $1,400. Settled for $800, when the public showed very little interest in the car. I hope you can do a little better, but from what I hear from others $800 is a realistic going price. I can tell by your repair list that you have put some money in your car, so you might get a little more for it.

Thanks for the info. That repair was just for the last year. I can't begin to count the $$$$ over 16 years. It's been a part of the family for so long its going to be hard to sell it. I know that sounds pretty stupid. I was hoping I could a least maybe get 1200 for it.

Default Know how you feel, had my '86 since 1995..........

hated to part with her, but it was time to let her go. It is tough to recoup dollars you have put into her over the years.

I sold my '86 to a young girl in her early 20's. She didn't have a clue as to how to care for any car let alone an Audi. She drove by my house last night. She must be a drunken driver or never learned how to drive. Car now has a headlight lens broken out, rear tail light broken, and now covered with red tape, loud exhaust leak, and no small plastic hub caps on the alloy wheels. I wouldn't be surprised if it were in a wrecking yard by Christmas. You don't want to see your car after you sell it.
