Default 1990 Model 100 Cruise Control Woes (Longish)

I bought this car a few months ago & am in the process of sorting out a myriad of problems. Have replaced a window regulator, timing belt, water pump, all tune up stuff, fuel pump (which drew blood) & recently, the gang of switches for the headlights & cruise control. The latter was precipitated by high beams which worked only infrequently & the cruise control which worked only briefly after the car's purchase. Replacing this switch cluster I'd hoped would take care of both the high beam & cruise control isssues but only successfully addressed the former. To troubleshoot the latter, I've confirmed the servo will hold a vacuum & that the brake pedal switch effectively breaks that vacuum. (Haven't checked the brake pedal switch electrically yet.) I also hot wired the vacuum pump & it too appears to function & checked pertinent fuses. I'm really trying to avoid pulling the dash apart to get to the control ECU & wonder if anyone has a suggestion for bench testing the speed sensor or any other words of advice. Thanks for the help.
