Default 1990 V8 - Diagnostic Code 4343?

4343 Carbon Canister,

Open or short circuit

Symptom: Poor response in part of load range, fuel odors, idle speed affected
------------

I'm getting code 4343 when I run the codes on my 1990 audi v8.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks,

Tomek.

The carbon canister solenoid valve maybe shot.

Checking:
remove the 3 screws for the coolant tank, & place it out of the way..leave the hoses connected.
disconnect solenoid harness connector.
use a MM set to resistance range
connect meter between the valve terminals...must be 40 to 50 ohms.
If not replace the valve.
If the valve shows it's OK...then you have a wiring issue.

Default 80omhs?

So I checked where you said, sure enough found a sensor there.

I tested the resistance an its around 80omhs...

Also, I have 2 of these V8's and use one for parts. I swaped the sensor from the 'parts' car and tested it, it showed around 80ohms too.

Is 80ohm ok?

Default Solenoid Valve...

So Iv read up more, what I need to replace, that is if 80ohms is no good:

http://corrado-teile.de/shop/product_info.php?info=p2240_Solenoid-Valve---BOSCH---VR6-Engine.html&XTCsid=7e73e43088f1cd69fc6e1b94360 935eb

Says here its good for VW Golfs, Jettas etc, so I'm assuming one of the 'big' parts retailers locally will have it. I'll be getting a new one tommorow, please let me know if 80ohm is no good.

Thanks,

Tomek.
