I just recently bought a 1990 Audi V8 Quattro, all it needed was a fuel pump. Put a brand new fuel pump in it, and no go, went out for a test drive and after almost 10 minutes of driving, i break down, the car just stops running. So, change the fuel pump relay, with a new one, still; no go, breaking down still. It runs good when it's acting normal, but it breaks down kind of randomly, engine needs to be hot to break down as well. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...
Oh, and it's the 3.6L model.

Sounds like the engine speed sensor not sending the ECU a proper signal when it gets hot. It and the ignition reference sensor are bracketed together on the driver side of the block where it connects with the tranny bell housing. Behind a shield under the spaghetti of exhaust piping. Ten mm bolt holds them in.
Try getting engine hot and then spraying some cold water through the piping onto the area of the sensors to see if cooling it off lets you run again.
