1991 Audi 200 Turbo Quattro Pre-Purchase Questions
All,
I'm a first time Forum visitor. I'm considering the purchase of a '91 Audi 200 Quattro Turbo. It has 120,000 miles on it but is in unbelievably mint condition. I buy and sell a lot of cars and this one sets the pace for all 12 year old cars.
I'm currently test driving the car and have noticed two issues. First, it has the original clutch and it is definitely showing wear. There is very little clutch left. Secondly, once fully warmed up, the engine will occassionally die upon deceleration as in between gear changes. It doesn't happen often...just two or three times but it is odd.
Any speculation as to the cause of the engine issue and if possible cost to repair? Also, what do clutches in these things run? The rest of the transmissions seems to be excellent.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

"There is very little clutch left." How are you measuring this? Stalling is a bad bypass valve.
I am also selling my 200 20v. Nice car - looking for $5k in Connecticut if you are interested.

Re: Upgrade and still save a buck
Thanks but I have your exact car in a VW Quantum Synchro...same color, same year....
Mine only has 47,000 miles on it but it's nowhere near as clean as yours...it's been sitting in storage for four years. Will get sold if I buy this one.

Re: Upgrade and still save a buck
If the VWs clean up as nicely as the Audis I am sure your efforts will be greatly rewarded. Quality paint and materials on these German cars. Have you set a price on that Sychro?
