Default 1991 V8Q Engine Clatter

Folks, my 1991 V8Q sounds like a diesel when it idles. There's a clatter coming from the front center of the engine somewhere. It disappears around 2500 rpm, suddenly, like being switched off. It gets louder as the engine revs, the *poof* no more clatter. The engine runs smooth and nice, about 70K on the engine, timing belt and water pump were done about a year & 10K miles ago. WTF? Anyone ever experience anything like this ? The next sound will be me lighting a bomb under the thing.

I run 10W30 in the winter, 10W40 in the summer (New England). Mobil or equivalent, changed religiously. As the engine revs up it gets louder and more regular, then suddenly just stops at 2500 rpm. Abruptly. WTF.

Mine are right on the money, unfortunately. We all hope and pray for such a simple solution, but it never seems to work out that way with this #$%&! car. Out of curiosity, what else could you have overfilled besides engine oil to cause that clatter?

Dunno, would that abruptly just stop at 2500rpm? It sounds like an old diesel at idle, like I'm dragging a tin can or there's rocks in the engine (maybe my kids are getting back at me) gets louder and more regular as the rpm's increase, then abruptly just stops at 2500 rpm. Weird. I would think tbelt gobble would be more consistent. Less than 10K miles on Tbelt, water pump, and tensioners

Default Cause thats what happens with a bad oil pump bearing. If you want the technical

explanation I'm not the guy to look @ for the answer. But if you want to know what's what with these V8's......then i'm your guy. & if thats the case than I say R&R'ing the oil pump bearing will cure this :-)

Would be hard to check cause the front needs to come off to get @ the p-side t-belt cover. What else did you miss when the 10K ago t-belt was done?
