Does anyone know if the chrome bumper trim pieces are the same from '85-88 5000's to '89 200's? Also, if the center trim piece above the rear bumper from a sedan will fit on a wagon? My 200 wagon has a rear bumper from an '86 5000 and it seems to fit fine but it's missing the chrome trim piece. Found a couple on 5000's at the junk yard but I don't want to go through all the trouble of pulling it and paying for a part that wont work. They look the same to me but if anyone has some first hand experience with this, let me know.
Also, if it does fit, how do I remove the bumper from the car at the junkyard? On my 4000's if I remember correctly, the bumpers just pull off. They are secured by the t-slot pieces on the sides and square plastic pegs snap into the metal bumper underneath. I'm guessing the 5000's are the same?
Thanks to any and all who reply with usefull bits.

Chrome center pieces have the same part number. On a 5k/200, you remove two Alan head bolts (8mm I think) from underneath at the rear bumper just like at the front bumper. You pull out on the front of the bumper cover behind the wheelwell and slide the cover backward. Chrome pieces are screwed to the body with plastic bolts.

on the 5k the bumper is attached to the bumper shocks and the bumper shocks are attached to the frame. There are 3 bolts holding the bumper shocks to the frame. The rear ones are hard to get to if you don't have some sort of an angled socket head. Mine was a royal PIA to remove and I was just interested in the Bumper Shocks and the chrome trim on my car before I sent it to the Crusher sho I just cut two notches in the rear bumper to gain better access to the bolts. Once the bumper is off the Chrome trim is affixed to the car with plasic nuts. Might want to bring some WD-40 or some penetrating oil with you because some of those bolts can be super rusty.

BTW I have an entire Chrome Bumper Trim set fresh off the 5k. Shoot me an email f you're interested.

Why wouldn't you just pull the two bolts holding the cover to the shocks? Once the cover is off, the fasteners for the chrome pieces are exposed.

I guess you live and you learn. I didn't go about parting this car out in the smartest way. The first thing I sold was my Bentley... D'oh!

I'm not sure but, I have a feeling that center chrome piece off the wagon has slightly different shape (flat) for better hatch door opening. ETKA shows different part numbers for Avant and sedan.
