control unit. That *shouldn't* impact cruise control. Am I missing something (I usually am...)

Aw come on, that's exactly what the override is for. The caveat probably should be don't leave it locked in high traction situations at hwy speed. Of course our definitions of HWY speed could differ.
I have been know to have my radar detecter on in snow storms, I suspect Jim has as well!

More $$ than cutting a wire but I know what you mean, 15 MPH limit on ice or packed snow is pretty slow. I think that 30 mph would be more useful.
