Default adding a cigarette lighter

I'd like to put a cigarette lighter in my trunk, for the power, and since the battery is right there, i can go right from the battery to the outlet part, right? should i put a fuse in, and where should i put it, if i do? i'm planning on using it to power stuff via inverter, if that helps at all... hehe.

howcome you don't just hook it straight up to the battery? most inverters come with clamps to go on the battery, either that or you can cut off the connectors and connect it directly to the battery. if you really want a cigarette light socket in your trunk then you can just cut up one of those extensions/things that plug into your light so that you can have more than one socket, and just wire her to the battery.

hmm, interesting. i was just thinking that since the inverter plug fits into the cigarette thing, that'd be the cleanest way. my friend who is a lot better with cars and electricity than me is gonna help me out, i believe
