Default are you using a cheap belt from Kelly-Springfield or similiar cheap...........

those belts will constantly stretch, but not break after four to six months. I kept tightening and retightening, then realized a cheap belt is just that a cheap belt. I now use Goodyear Gator backs, or Gates belt with no problems.

I use DAYCO belts, I'm quite happy with them. not noisy at all.

Default I went to the dealer and purchased an new one

was like $7 or something like that. Some of the teeth were missing (previous owner). I also bought a quality belt, haven't had a problem since. Although it does require regular adjustments.
