Applying sound deadening to doors

I'm planning on putting in some sound deading mat to the car doors. Where should I put it, on on the inside of the outer door skin, or should I bridge it across the inside of the inner door frame?

If you search this forum using those key words and RussB's name you'll find his post with a link that had an excellent writup on using that stuff. Sorry I don't remember the exact date. Earlier this year I know.
I do believe you want to install it on the inside of the outer door skin not the frame.

We're lucky, because it's easy to access most of our door skin, once the door panel is removed. IMO, it's worthwhile. I began with the doors, then did the deck, trunk, and firewall. Now I can talk on my cellphone and hear the other party -- before, I couldn't. The car just feels and sounds much more solid, tight, and I'd swear from its quiet ride that it weighs 1000 pounds more than it does.
I used Dynamat Xtreme bulk pack, purchased on eBay for about $112 with freight for 36 square feet. If I were to do it again, I'd prolly try Second Skin Audio's Damplifier Pro.
After applying the deadening mat, I used 3M spray adhesive to bond 1/4 inch thick closed cell (won't absorb water, though inferior accoustically) neoprene foam sheets (purchased economically from an insulation supply house) to the Dynamat Xtreme.

Excellent sound deadening description and mat product comparison:

http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/</a
