HI, My 100 quattro will not start, battery is fully charged but when i turn the ignition the relay clicks once and that is all, anybody know the problem?
(changed the starter but it didnt help)

Can you tell us a little more about it? What year was the car? How loud is that click? Did you get a full test of that battery? They can sometimes read on a normal car charger as charged, but the battery won't hold a charge. Just something to do to eliminate it as a possibility. Autozone or etc will do it for free. I suppose start there.

What led up to the symptoms? Did you put it in the driveway and it just didn't start one day?

Starter? Check all of your cables at the starter for corrosion. Big culprit...

Check your grounds in the engine bay. BTDT, thought it was something else and it turned out to be grounds

Starter connections and engine grounds.

I also would recommend a good battery load test. The battery in my forklift always shows full charge and it barely turns it over. With a jump from a power pack it fires right up. Putting a load test on it shows that it can't hack it. I'm still going to run all new lines throughout the whole machine since it's pretty bad anyway.

If you didn't get ANYTHING when you turned the key I might have suggested the ignition switch too.

The car is an 89, the click coming from the starter is barely noticeable unless you are right up next to it, Im certain its not the battery because ive tried a few different ones that work fine in another vehicle, and I had a charger while i tried to start it and got the same response. It got real cold overnight below zero, and the next morning it had a hard time starting, but eventually got it running and it ran fine, until after I had to head home and it wouldnt start. When I try to start it directly at the starter all it does is spark.
