Audi 200 Door Lock .Problems

I just bought a 1991 TQ 200 that has a problem with both front door locks. The interior lock posts on both the driver and passenger side doors are in the unlocked position (and the rear doors are unlocked) but I can't open the doors - the exterior handles flip up but the doors don't open - it feels like the doors are locked. I tried using the key on both doors but it won't turn at all.
On the driver side, I can't push the lock post down at all. On the passenger side, I can, and the rear doors then lock, but after 5 seconds or so, the doors unlock by themselves, and the lock posts pop back up. Hmmmm...
Perhaps something in both the driver and passenger side front door handle mechanisms is broken... but I'm wondering if there isn't some problem in the central locking system that's responsible for this, since both doors have the same issue. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?
Also, I can't lock the trunk either - the key won't turn in the lock. Could this be related, or does it sound like a separate issue?
I'm new to the forum and just thought I'd see if anyone knows what the problem might be before I go taking the door panels off and peering in there, looking for I don't know what.![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Thanks!

From your description, I'd say your issue with the doors is centered on the driver side front door. I'll bet that when you get the driver side lock post working, the rest of the doors will behave.
The trunk lock is a separate issue. Common problem. See the link to Chris Miller's website devoted to the 91 200q20v and then become familiar with the entire resource.

trunk lock

Thanks for the help, guys! I've had to set that problem aside for a bit, but will try to track it down this next week. Thanks again!
