Default Auto Tranny fluid change questions.

Ok, so I put the car on the lift, starting looking for a drain plug... nothing? Am I missing something here? Then I decided to remove the Dipstick tube, but that's not happening... I don't think its ever been done. Any BTDT on fluid/filter/pan seal change?

I also need an A/T pan with Dipstick tube just in case mine breaks while removing... which it will. Anybody have one laying around?

Default There is no drain plug...

You have to drop the pan. That only drains about 1/3, the rest is in the TC. I recommend opening the line to the cooler. That still won't drain the TC unless it is running in Park.

Ok, dumb question... How do the audi service techs do it? And, can I run the car in park, and then, leave the pan off, and drain it that way? Also, I thought the cooling line was just a run from the engine cooling system, in other words...antifreeze? How will removing that assembly drain the system?

I'm still very new to the auto tranny. Been used to manuals my whole life... Can one also R/R the TC?

Default Unscrew the dipstick tube from the pan, that's the drain plug

If it's too tight remove the pan with it connected, then remove it from the pan on the bench. Try not to distort the fitting use a line wrench.

Yeah that bolt likes to strip easily...

We used a Visegrips.
