First off Hello to everyone. I was just at the library and ran into this website. I have a couple of questions for you all! I have an 81 Audi 5000 turbo, and a 90 Audi 100. I would like to know if the tranny from the 5000 is compatible with the 100? I have also heard that the Audi 100 came with two different tranny's a 3 speed and a four speed. How would I know the difference? The tranny in the 5000 is in excellent shape, and the tranny in the 100 is shot, it only has reverse! Your help is greatly appreciated.

IMHO:
4-speed were installed only in last year of 1991 Audi 100/44, has "Sport" button near the shift selector. 3-speed were installed all over the place, like '84-90 Audi 100 and turbo 200.
I don't know about '81 5000 since its different body style.

to look up interchangeability of auto parts, or what parts would fit what years of cars. I can't remember the name of the reference book. That was some years back, maybe they have all gone to the internet for this information now. Suggest calling an auto wrecking yard, ask for their advise. They may be able to help, or point you in the right direction.
