Default Automatic transmisssion - Is it dead???

Hi all.
This morning, while driving slowly, the AT from the 200 turbo '89 just went off....No nothing....No shifting, no gear engagement..NOTHING...
The thing is that 2 years ago, gearbox was fixed ( overhaul) and last year, the toruqe converter....After that last visit, there were two little noises, one like rubbing metalic surfaces and the other like a loose small rock in a container.....
Thing is: What can it be????? The gear box is ( almost) new and so is the torque converter.....
Help please.....an idea would be helpful....
*The car ( engine) runs perfect with no noises at al). The gear lever moves, but has no effect whatsoever....no noises, no speed engagement...NOTHING!!!!

Many thanks

Default Me thinks you should have taken it back after the T.C. was replaced.

It should have never made those two noises right after that service....
