Default Battery gauge

Whats up with the battery gauge,

When it hesitates for a second or two then springs up to a reading ?

Is your alternator belt loose or squeeling?

Default Re: Is your alt // NO

Its before firing,

I just turn key part way, everything lights up in dash, then .... after a couple of seconds the battery gauge needle bounces across (hopefully to more than 12 ....)

Its like somethings not connecting straight away.

With the battery hassles of late, I am keeping a close eye on the gauge.

Alternator must be working (has charged a mildly flat battery) but maybe its not grunting enough ???

Seems like its sipping away juice, so maybe have to go thru each item to find the drain.

Damn battery troubles in an auto ...

But its so f great to drive, arghhhhh Audis ...

Default Do you have to rev the motor to get the needle to jump? If so, sounds like the

exciter wire. If no, then might be the voltage regulator, on the back of the alternator.
