Default Black plastic bumper repair '91 Audi 100

Had a really sorry accident between the rear bumper and the garage door and the door left a large scar and a couple small ones on the bumper. Bumpers, either new or used, are expensive.

Question #1: Is there anyway to fill in these gouges, i.e., "repair them", so that they match the rest of the bumper?

Question #2: Would/could this be a DYI project or is it best done by a body shop?

The plastic has a kinda orange-peal finish so it is not smooth.

They do make a black spray paint for use on these older style bumpers for use when the bumper color gets a bit faded or grey but the underlying material will have to match the finish first. This would be the easy part.

Default i cracked off many pieces of a V8 rear bumper valance, epoxied them back on, took to body shop

to have seams filled in sanded and blended, feel real good that its gonna come out like new. so yes I believe it can be repaired for much less than another bumper would cost

Default take a trip to your local flaps, and pick up a plastic bumper repair kit

mix up the glue they give you and fill in the gouges with it, the sand them out and refinish with some bumper black paint, looks like brand new

Thanks. That's a bit of a sore point - my favorite local auto parts store was recently acquired by NAPA!
