I bought a new set of these speakers off ebay for $5 + $10 shipping.... what a deal! I was afraid the 5.25" speakers would be too deep to fit into my bose door panel.... it was very close.
TSC540.... mounting depth 2"
I ended up gluing a thin plywood bracket with screws inside the door panel with silicon glue. The speakers are deep enough to just allow the door panel to lock into place.... whew!!!
The tweeters are extremely bright and I have to back off the treble to flat minus 2 steps. Now it sounds pretty good for just a few bucks.
Looks stock except for the tweeter which I surface mounted just forward of the arm rest.
Panasonic 5310 mp3 headunit $155
USAcoustics 65X4 $140
Blaupunkt 5.25" component $15
8" MTX Sub + enclosure $75
No rear speakers

Does the sellers have any more sets?
So, did you dump the Bose pod or did you apply the plywood on top of it?
I fitted 4" components, with the woofer in the Bose pod and tweeter in the dash grill.
I also have a very bright condition that have to correct.

I've glued the plywood to the door panel and mounted the speaker to the plywood.

There's not enough space to do a flush mount so I figured I'd hide it by the arm rest.
I knew the tweeters would be bright so I hoped that mounting them lower would lessen their brightness due to the off-axis response.
The seller only had one set and I had my filter turned on to warn me someone was selling them.
