Default BlauSport Cam

Anyone have any experience with the BlauSport cam in a 5000 TQ? I was wondering how big a boost in power I will get from it. I already have the TAP chip/boost spring in the car.
Thanks in advance

Default Re: BlauSport Cam

I installed a blausport cam in my 87
5ktq. motor was a fresh rebuild with
a two piece exhaust manifold, ported
head, bigger innercooler, greddy
boost controller, 3 inch exhaust system
and I didn't really see any gain over
the stock cam..

Default I have one

I have one in my car, and it really opened some power in the top end. Before the cam the car wanted to be shifted at about 5500rpm now it pulls hard all the way to redline, you don't seem to gain alot more midrange power. It was a worthwhile investment for me, plus I bought the kit so I could replace the lifters since some were getting noisy. I assume you are thinking of getting a 272deg cam.

I plan on doing the 272 cam in conjunction with a hybrid turbo my mechanic is building and an adjustable wastegate. Then will come the 3" exhaust.

Sounds like you're making a beast of a car :-)
Are you going to use the stock CIS fuel system and how much boost do you plan on using?

I still plan on using the stock CIS system for now. We haven't figured out how much boost I can run safely yet. The hybrid turbo will make it spool up sooner and faster. I do know my mechanic is able to get 300hp out of his engine with the stock bottom end. Thats the range I'm shooting for also. The car seems too slow for me now. I went from a Porsche 951 to this about 2 yrs ago. I really miss the power the 951 had but I don't miss the repair costs.

Default About the hybrid...

are you going to use a k26 hot side and a t4 cold side? Also did you mechanic get 300hp with the stock CIS system. My k24 seems to work pretty good. It builds 14-15 psi before 3000rpm and holds it to about 6000 before it drops off just a bit. I'm not sure what the max boost you can run through a k24 safely, would be nice to know.

Well we are going to use the stock hot side and the cold side from a 944 Turbo. My mechanic suggested a max boost of 18-19 psi when we are done but it might shorten the life of the engine. I can ask him what the max boost for a k24 is when I talk with him this eve. He's a Audi mechanic with 15yrs experience
