Brake pressure accumulator (aka bomb) replacement last night...
Out with the old (and still original!) bomb, and in with the neu. I am the second owner, first owner was, shall we say fastidious to the nth with his records, and the bomb had not yet been replaced (86 5kcstq). So, the old one comes out after a minor Pentosin shower, swap over the rubber grommets/bushings, reinstall. 'Cept that darned 11 mm hard line on the side of the neck. Anyone else have issues getting that line started? Is there a trick that I'm missing? This job would've only taken at most 2 hrs if I didn't have to spend an additional 3 hrs under the car trying to get the damn thing threaded. At least there were 'others' there to drink me beer and laugh at me. Of course...
TIA,
Jim

I never replaced the bomb on my '97, but when I did the 200q20v, I got both hydraulic lines connected while the anchorage to the body remained loose. Then I snugged everything up. It was a dexterity challenge. I'd never have gotten it done without a hoist. When you're fat and have short arms, it's hard to do most any under-car task while using jackstands. As much as I hated replacing the fuel tank on this car, I'm grateful the task gave me the impetus to finally buy a hoist.
