I'm sure its the cat based on the symptoms you describe. But it would be an expensive mistake if I'm wrong.
What's the possibility of laying your hands on a used cat just for test purposes?

Seems like they are stripped from the cars at the yard pretty quick. Must be one of the first things taken.

The knocking-rattling sound is bugging me as I'm praying its not coming from the trany/differntial. It seems to shift fine but its hard to tell with the way it's running now.

Try tossing a straight pipe in for a test.

Default Legally a yard can't sell used cats. They recycle them..

Here they pay 15 bucks per used cat.

No I didn't. What do you use as the lube?

Thanks!

Default prolly been 5 years since I installed new injector "O" rings........

I remember it was important to lube the "O" rings when reinstalling. It helps to seat the rings for a nice snug fit upon insertion. I think that I used white lithium grease out of a spray can. Never gave me any trouble afterwards.

I think you can just use gasoline as well for lube iirc.

Do you think this could be the cause of my problem?
I got a pretty good look at my cat tonight and it looks like it is pretty new so now I'm becoming skeptical that the cat is the source of my problems. Maybe my injectors didn't seat well? That couldn't be good.

Thanks

Default did you replace the "O" rings after pulling out the injectors??

If they don't seat well, they can leak a little air into the engine causing starting and idle problems.
