Ok, this has happen once before and the only way I solved it was let it sit overnight and when i went to start it in the morning it started right up.
Lucky for me, I was at home.
Now it has done it again and this time i had to get a ride home.
All lights work, radio and wipers work, it just feels like it's not firing or something.
Could this be related to the ignition switch?

Does the car try to start? If it tries to start but doesnt catch, the ignition switch is doing its job.
If you turn the key and get no "action", check the starter and starter wiring.

When turning the key, it just sits there turning over and over.
Starter is turning the engine over, all lights work. It just won't catch and start up.
The ignition switch doesn't spring back when after turning the key, been this way since i got the car.
I know if i go and try and start it this morning, it will start fine. So it might be something else.
I do have the 3 recalls on the car that need to be done, but it's related to the fuel line and seal and the air bag.
Plus I do have a leak under the dash from when i runt he ac the water leaks in the passenger and driver side floor.
But i wasn't running it all day yesterday.
I'm lost.

First off you need to tell us which cars you have. 5000, 100, 200, or V8.
Is it turbo? Do you know how to pull DTC codes(Diagnostic Trouble Codes)? Does this only happen when the engine is cold, warm or hot?

1993 100 S non-turbo.
Well i drive it all day and turn it off and on all day. It's when i drive it and let it sit for about 1-2 hours is when it doesn't seem to wanna start.
Something is happening during that siting period thats causing the issue.
I don't know how to pull the codes, plus there are no codes showing up on the dash.
This issue just started recently.

Your car is a V6 and this forum is for mainly I5 and V8. You should post on the 100 C4 A6 forum
https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/
Sound like a heat soaked sensor is causing your problem if it only occurs when the engine is hot. You will have to pull the DTC codes in order to determine which sensor is causing your problem. You will need a VAG code reader/scanner. Your car has an OBDII connector to hookup with the VAG code reader/scanner
See http://www.ross-tech.com for more information.
My guess would be the cam sensor since this is a common failure with V6 engine. Search the 100 C4 A6 forum for "cam sensor". The other alternative is to bring it to a dealership and have them read the code. You really don't want to start just changing parts. Your ECU will tell you exactly what is wrong.

You are correct you need the 2X2 adapter
Check your car for for the following connectors. I've never use this reader so I can't comment if it will work or not. Check with the seller. Also check with the A6 100 forum, there are guys on that forum that knows more about this engine.
