91 V8Q. Going 25-40mph and hit slight bump, cracks on the road and makes clink clink on drivers side wheel. WHat could be the first?

I don't have a V8 but my 97 Cabriolet did exactly that and when I would stop fast it also would. It ended up needing new strut mounts. Fairly minor cheap fix. Also, might want to visually check that whole area including spring, strut, wheel on the correct tightness etc. Before my 5K, my daily driver was a 91 Alfa 164S that the driver side wheel came off while driving due to a wore out bearing that didn't allow the wheel to stay on tightly. Prior to the wheel falling off, it made a clunking clunking sound. I'm 99.9% sure that is not your problem but look at it anyway. Once you've had a wheel fall off you tend to be paranoid of ANY noise coming from the wheels. HTH

i don't have a v8, mine's an 87 5Ktq. The shock sits down in a "tube" i guess you could call it and a cap threads down over the top of the tube to hold the shock down. That cap had backed itself off and was no longer holding the shock down. Horrible kaboom when i hit a bump and made a rattling sound. Tightened cap and no trouble since. Hope this helps.
