Default Clutch Pedal Problem and why not to lend cars to family!

Hey all, I recnelty left to europe for a month and when i got home I had the wonderfull news of my sister barbaricly destryoing my transmission. Aparently when she went to use the car after her crappy ford focus broke, the clutch pedal was low off the floor. I guess she couldnt get it into gear and just ground the crap out of my tranny. She made it a while then got stranded yadda yadaa. Anyway when I get there the pedal was definitly lower then when i left. I checked the hydrolic fluid and it looked fine. I was able to drive it fine just the pedal only has to come an inch off the floor for the clutch to grab. Anyway I was wondering where a good place to start figuring out what happened would be? Thanks for your time

You need a clutch master cyl, plus whatever your sister broke.

Default The clutch still works it simply stay low to the ground......

Why is it automatically the cylinders? Both of them look to be in good condition and the fluid was recently flushed when the clutch was replaced. I drove the car home no problems it just seems like the pedal only goes a little off the floor, but it still disingages the clutch no problem. I also find it hard to believe that the cylinders would just all of a sudden fail like that but still function.... Is there any other ideas that could cause this kind of a problem? If I need to buy new cylinders whihc one would be the most lickly problem the master or the slave? Is there anyway to tell the symtoms apart from each other?

Thanks for the help so fare

Default Bet on the Master. You can get a cheap rebuild kit ... but ...

Just hope that the problem is not due the the clutch pedal strarting to crack b4 it breaks. Fairly comon problem.

Default Always try BLEEDING it first...

Recent work on any part of the clutch system might have moved some air around. Before replacing parts, bleed first.

Default I got away with the cyl that's easier to access.

I posted this same question a few months back. The clutch is fairly new so I knew it wasn't likely to be that. The one cyl did fix the problem.

Default I still think you better look into now, while it's drivable.

Because you are driving on borrowed time. The problem is either of the cylinders. You don't want to it konk out on you when you're miles from home.
